Rob Thornton
Principal | Founder
Rob is a licensed architect and former educator with over forty years of professional experience. Prior to founding Rob Thornton Architecture, he was a principal at other award-winning firms and was responsible for all aspects of business management as well as project development from design through construction. He has also worked at noted design firms throughout the Pacific Northwest in Boise, Seattle and Portland.
As a principal, Rob is responsible for developing the creative initiatives and generating ideas that form the foundation of the design. He is involved throughout all phases of the project to ensure that the design vision remains strong and consistent at every level of detail and construction.
With experience in residential, liturgical, office, manufacturing, medical, restaurant, and retail design, Rob works with clients in designing and developing solutions that address their needs and desires. His attention to detail and sensitivity to program integration plays an important role the consistent delivery of outstanding designs.

In addition to his accomplishments in the arena of professional practice, Rob has been involved with the University of Idaho’s College of Architecture Urban Design Center both as lecturer and guest critic for over 15 years.
